will try to tell you something
about me and my situation in Amberg. 1986 I moved to Amberg. I had great difficulties from the very beginning to get students. Amberg is in Germany, but it's Bavaria and I'm from "Rheinland-Pfalz". For people here I'm a stranger. I made the biggest mistake of my life and I did not move away from here again. 2003 (my marriage was probably for financial reasons already broken) I tried to get a job in a urban school of music. I wrote about 600 e-mails, but no success. The cities in Germany do not spend any longer much money on music instruction. 2004 I had a stroke. In the hospital they found out: silent heart attack >> front wall aneurysm >> silent stroke and then the real stroke in 2004. The consequences: my short time memory was already better, I read about 90 words in a minute, normal are 180 words. Meanwhile I'm an early pensioner. But I have still about 7 students. My main problem is my isolation. I have no money to go out. I tried about 20 times during the last 12 years to get a little contacts with ex-students. (A little talk, together music make, perhaps together into a cinema go) A very old neighbour said to me: "Forget the people of Amberg, you are one of them or you are outside." Some years ago I visited a concert in the local youth centre. 2 bands, "No Sex Until Marriage" from Hannover (Germany) and "Surrender Dorothy" from Canada, interesting manning (Vocal, Guitar, Bass + Drums). The concert was well announced in the local newspapers. I was then one of approx. 10 (in words ten) visitors. In a break I asked another visitor: "How can that happen in a city with approx. 40000 inhabitants?" He said that the people of Amberg accept bands from outside only if they are so-called "Top 40 Bands". Bands from outside which play their own music have here rather bad chances.
